Join Life Drawing St Albans/Stevenage run by illustrator Bob Wright. Three hours of figurative studies with advice on hand to help you unwind and relax into the creative process.  Life drawing is one of the most valuable practices an artist can utilise.  Life drawing helps you develop three-dimensional drawing practices as well as sharpening your hand to eye co-ordination. You can also use the session to experiment with different media and styles to convey the human form.
If you've never attended a life drawing session before you'll find the atmosphere one of encouragement, a genuine art space open to experiment that's free of heavy critical judgement.  This should aid the drawing process, help you loosen up and rack up the practice hours as much as possible.  Once you feel a bit more accomplished and comfortable we can get on with more critical analysis to try and hone your skills
Sessions are comprised of quick studies to warm up with 1 to 2-minute poses, concentrating on the strong gestural action. Poses will then increase in length as we continue, finishing with a 20 to 40-minute long sitting. These later poses tend to be more relaxed recumbent forms, here you'll likely have to deal with hidden volumes and deep foreshortening, so whilst you'll have more time, it will be more of a challenge than you think.
Boards, paper, charcoal and pencils provided. To get the best from the session please feel free to bring your own materials and supplies. We break halfway through for tea, coffee and biscuits which also are supplied on the day.
In addition For the end of 2017 into 2018 I will be running an easel only group in the Apex at Trestle theatre, its slightly more expensive but you get an easel and materials and the group is slightly smaller.
Please arrive 20 - 15 minutes before 14:30 or 19:00 pm start times, so we can be ready to start on time.  Please see below for information on booking.
